Ordered Corian from  http://Solidsurface.com
They sell large cut off pieces.
Approx. sizes available were 4 pieces at  24" x  49"
This is the color that Michele wanted and we lucked out finding it!!!!

Corian cuts like wood with a carbide blade. I used a DEWALT Finishing blade with 36 teeth per inch.
Makes lots of dust and smells.  Do "Out-Doors"

Cutting out for the sink, I made four plunge cuts with the skill saw and finished the corners with a Jig saw.
A sander finishes off the edges around the sink and then the top edge is routed with a small radii.

These show all the counters at the galley.  Out of the boat it looks like a WHOLE LOT!
A large section is where the cockpit ladder blocks.  That is where one of the two seems will be.
My helper wanted to be in the picture!

Almost ready to test on the boat.
Bitterly COLD outside.  It will have to wait a couple of weeks.

corian8.jpg (123974 bytes)
Decided to do a glue test using my existing Epoxy glue. I glued two samples together to test after they are dry.

Test one will be for how the glue blends with the seam.  One sample I used plain Epoxy and the second I tinted the Epoxy with the dust from the cutting of the Corain. This method works for wood, so lets see if I can hide the seam with it  in Corain.

This is the finished Pan Storage Hatch next to the sink.
I will complete it with a fingered one when I get a chance.

In my spare time I designed a shelf above the sink.
Incorporated into it is the handrail that will match the Port side.
The plastic one showing will be SS.  Sample molding showing in the last pic.
