Top cut for storage containers. See containers and new cover...below.
This is the work bench area across from the engine room door. On my boat it was
a flat surface that was covered with white Formica.
I always had problems keeping it free of STUFF as I could not find small storage
areas for all the stuff.
In the doors below I keep most items in containers so that I can keep everything
organized to store and know where it is when I need it.
SO I thought and thought and decided to take a look at the local industrial
kitchen store and see what kind of containers they had that would fit in the
counter top and not stick down to block the door area storage below.
Picture This!
A tall grey bearded guy with a paper template in the kitchen store trying to lay
this out on their floor and explain what I was doing!!!!
Hey! it worked!

Here they are inserted into the cutouts. The one on the far left is deeper
because there is little storage available below it.

Cut new 3/16" masonite board covers to make it a shelf again. Cut it into three
pieces so that I could have STUFF on the top and still be able to open part of
it.
Tested this summer and it has worked GREAT!
Kept the top pretty much clutter free all summer.
